Now inseparable, the children begin to exhibit inexplicable powers as, one-by-one, the villagers of their tiny Estonian village begin to believe the incredible story of the half-souled halflings.
When the second world war breaks across Europe, Alma and Toomas are wrested apart when the Russians invade and throw Toomas on a train bound for a Siberian gulag. Their desperate journey to reunite thrusts Alma and Toomas into a dangerous world, forcing them to face their devils and demons ...alone.
