"SEE" (from Writing Arthur Danby) is one of my most requested pieces. The song is sung by the character of Hannah, a very quirky, smart, sweet and funny 2nd grade teacher in Boston. She lives next door to a strange man who lives inside his small bookstore. He hasn't left in 32 years.
Hannah has visited Arthur on her way to and from school every day for the past 9 years. She is, in fact, the only person with whom Arthur is remotely comfortable speaking. They have a structured routine that they follow to the letter. But, this day has been quite different. Ater Hannah surprises Arthur by wishing him Happy Birthday, the day and night are thrown into increasing chaos as Arthur's structure and routine vary wildly. Upon her third unexpected visit to the store, Hannah finally breaks down and blurts out: "I'm in love with you, Arthur Danby." After nine long years of holding that little tidbit in, Hannah lets it all out in "SEE".
