Nonna is a product of Soviet upbringing, and she has never questioned the communistic world view, that is, not until she meets Toomas, a prisoner at the Siberian gulag she works as an intake registration clerk. In “According to Plan” she realizes that she has feelings for Toomas, even though Toomas is desperately longing to escape the workcamp and be rejoined with another woman. However conflicted, Nonna, decides to help Toomas escape.
