For years, Alma and her childhood friend, Toomas, have tried piecing together scraps of vague, incomplete memories of a trip their parents took them on from Estonia to Paris.

A now grown Alma finally confronts her mother. She presents her with scraps from the mysterious day, the day a nice doctor took two children bonded by repressed trauma "Down the Stairs", and pleads to know what the doctor told their parents, who haven't been the same since that long ago day.
