The WWII has finally ended, and Alma, a war refugee from Estonia, is now living in Paris. Every day she goes to the Soviet Embassy to ask for news of Toomas, her best friend from childhood, who was taken to Siberia, when the war broke out. She is ready to return to Estonia, even though it has been occupied by the Soviets, but then she receives a telegraph, that Toomas has died in the work camp.

And now, Alma has to find the strength to carry on…
